In order to balance osmotic pressure, a large amount of water enters the parasite cells, causing swelling and death. It has effects on the toxicity, tenderness, giant, gentle, heap type, Brucella and other Eimeria species in chickens, especially on giant and Brucella. It has a significant effect on the spores, first and second generation merozoites of chicken coccidia. In addition, salinomycin can also promote animal growth. Feeding 30-60 mg/kg of feed to piglets under 4 months of age and 15-30 mg/kg of feed to piglets under 4-6 months of age can significantly increase body weight and improve feed utilization efficiency.
The absorption of salinomycin in the gastrointestinal tract is minimal when taken orally in chickens. The content is relatively high in the liver, stomach, and small intestine, and extremely low in other tissues. Drugs that enter the body are rapidly metabolized in the liver and excreted from the body through feces secreted by the small intestine. The excretion within 48 hours after administration accounts for 94.6% of the administered dose, and exceeds 97% within 72 hours.
